Since Spring is finally here, I decided to play around with a little color. Using a natural shadow base with your slight- tint of unexpected hue, is the perfect way to start. Below is a mini- written tutorial on how I achieved this simple spring look as well as the products used. (look pictured down below)
BASE: Urban Decay Primer, Sephora brand white shadow
SHADOW: Urban Decay Palette no.1: Naked shadow, Urban Decay Palette no.3: Nooner shadow, Dior Nude Bronzer
LINER: BUXOM black liner, MakeUp Forever Aqua Liner: Emerald Green
HIGHLIGHTER: NYX white- cream Jumbo pencil
BROWS: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil: Caramel & Blonde tinted brow gel , Benefit Brow Kit: Light
MASCARA: MakeUp Forever: Aqua Smoky Lash
I always start with the brows. If you are not sure how to properly fill in brows, don’t worry- there are plenty of quality tutorials online. If your’e in a rush though, simply put, use a color pencil that is one to two shades lighter than your hair color and fill in/outline your brow hairs with a light hand (takes a bit of practice, but it’s really not that bad)- just trace the natural shape of your brows. *MAKE SURE THEY ARE GROOMED THOUGH***** VERY IMPORTANT***.
As far as steps go for the brows, I start with the brow wiz, then brow kit powder, and lastly the brow gel to seal it all in.
If you would like a more detailed tutorial on how to do your brows directly, you can recommend it in my “Questions/ Requests” tab.
Ok, now after defining my brows (which totally frames your face if done correctly), I usually prime my lids with my finger with the Urban Decay Primer. Doing so will create a protective seal for the eye and make any shadow pigment last all throughout the day.
For this particular look, I lined my upper and lower water-line with a thick, creamy black pencil by BUXOM. This step not only dramatically defines your eyes but makes your lashes look visibly fuller, really making all the difference.
Additionally, I used the NYX white Jumbo pencil to lightly highlight the inner- corners of my eye which not only makes you look more awake, but also makes your eye look wider.
Now it is time for the shadow. I used such an easy shadow look today- I started with a white shadow base to layer over the primer, then used the Urban Decay: Naked pigment in my crease with a little Dior bronzer to blend it out. (Just use any crease and blending brush for this step- it really does not matter)
To define the edges of my crease ever-so-slightly I used Urban Decay Nooner shadow, just at the ends of my lid with the same crease brush.
That’s really all you have to do for the shadow. NOW THE FUN PART!
Carefully form a cat eye of medium thickness with any pop of color you want! I choose an Emerald Green color by the trusted Makeup Forever Aqua Liner collection.
Again, cat- eyes take practice, just like the brows but the end result is worth it.
Add a little mascara at the end and curl your lashes if you wish, and then you’re DONE!
Note: There are tons more color tints to choose from with your liner- my favorite colors are deep purples, blues and even a vibrant reds. You can really get as creative as you want with the liner!
This look is perfect for the spring season- it’s not too much and even with the pop of color, it comes across as very natural.
Note: you do not need the same exact products I used to achieve this look- If you already have similar products, there is no need to go out and buy more (though all the products that I choose to use, I really like a lot and would totally recommend)
