M.O.T.D: Colorful Drama feat. Chanel, Guerlain, NARS, MakeUp Forever, Dolce & Gabbana, MAC & Rimmel London

Happy July!,

Real quick before I head to the lake for the 4th of July, I decided to post today’s makeup look, which has one of my favorite cosmetic elements… Color!

I love this look because it has a really cool juxtaposition between natural shadow and vibrant liner/ lips.

Here is a list of products I used to create this look:

MAC face & body foundation
GUERLAIN Écrin 4 Couleurs Eyeshadows in 04 Les Bois de Rose
NARS Creamy Radiant concealer
Dolce & Gabbana Beauty Glow Bronzer
Chanel lipstick in 59 Dédicace
MakeUp Forever Aqua eyes in Blue/Green
Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder

Steps:

1.)

Choose your favorite moisturizer/ primer and apply a light amount to skin. Once prepped and primed, apply your foundation~ I used a MAC foundation which is very light so I simply used my fingers for application.

While applying my foundation, I also did some slight concealing with my NARS concealer. I used one of my favorite new brushes to do this step, the Sigma Tapered foundation brush pictured below.

Next, apply a nice primer to the eyes and fill in eyebrows if needed. This is an optional step~ I choose to keep my eyebrows fairly natural with this look but it’s totally up to you.

Once primed, I used the Guelain palette listed above, starting with the lightest pinky shade. I layered the second lightest pink shade on top for subtle definition then continued to use the taupe brown color in my crease as a nice transition shade. Continuing on after the transition shade, I finally used the darkest rose shade of the palette at the ends of the eye in a “V” shape with a crease/ blending brush for added drama.

Now for the fun~ the pop of color! I used this unexpected blue/green liner by MakeUp Forever. I love this color when placed on a natural eye because the vibrancy and neutrality of the eye shades really balance each other out. This Aqua pencil is especially creamy and pointed so it makes liner application easy. With this eye-liner, I choose to do a little extra flick at the end of my eye for subtle drama.

4.)

For even more added drama, I lined the inner rims of my eyes with a black, creamy pencil~ It doesn’t matter which pencil you use and you can even skip this step if you wish to have a more subtle look.

In cohesion with the liner I added mascara~ Add your choice of mascara and curl lashes if need be.

As for the base makeup, I did a slight contour using the Dolce & Gabbana bronzer. Note:  I did not add any blush on today, because I wanted more of a sun-kissed look. I also wanted to make sure my base makeup was more neutral because my eyes and lips were so bold.

I then added a light Rimmel London powder to add a matte finish to my face as well as a nice highlighter which is a totally optional step.

6.)

Lastly, I used one of my favorite lip colors of all time, CHANEL: 59 Dédicace. It’s a creamy, berry color in between a baby pink and ruby red shade. This youthful color is great for Summer and is very wearable. Plus, it has great staying power~ After all, it is CHANEL!

Note: You do not need to use the same exact brands I used to achieve this look~ Anything similar will do just fine!

Hoped you liked my colorful look of the day! If these colored looks aren’t your thing, don’t worry~ I will be doing more natural  looks in the near future!

Stop on by again!

  1. i love that jewel-toned eyeliners are in; i got the NARS larger than life longwear eyeliner in rue de rivoli, a beautiful shimmery green, and it makes me want MORE COLORS!
