Hey there,
Every weekend, I do what I like to call a “Detox Day”, which I think of as a full- on body rehab after a long, tiring week. I’m a night owl and love to stay up late, which is great except when you have to wake up early for class. I wind up getting very little sleep during the week, and it definitely wears on my body. I also love to socialize and go out with my friends which leads to even more exhaustion towards the end of the week.
It is important to spend a day once in a while to slow down and focus on your mind and body health. To do this, I do a few special things that really rejuvenate me for the next week to come.
Here, Is a little layout of some of my favorite things to do on my “Detox Days”. Enjoy!
1.
HYDRATE!
Hydration is key to your overall health. When properly quenched, you’ll feel more awake and your skin will fill with life. Of course water is always the best way to go, but to spice my day up a bit, I love to drink Kombucha tea. “Kombucha”, if you don’t already know, is a lightly fermented black/ green tea that is both sweet and nutritious as it is packed full of good bacteria to aid in digestion- I usually like to mix this fermented tea in raspberry lemonade or peach tea to add even more flavor.
I drink a few glasses of this concoction, and really feel the benefits from it later in the day. It’s so refreshing and tasty, you should really try it out for yourself!
2.
PURIFY YOUR FOODS
On “Detox Days”, I like to eat fresh, airy foods that don’t de-stress my digestion. I usually have a nice, springy salad like this one pictured above made with apricots, organic lettuce, fennel and nuts mixed with olive oil and vinegar. These kind of salads are non- irritating and really cleanse my body.
Note: Try to stay away from dairy and grains on your rehab day to give your overall digestion a little break.
I also love to eat fresh fruits, and raw left kale, which is actually a lot tastier than you might think! Plus, it’s gluten free, dairy free, soy free and grain free- you can’t go wrong!
3.
FACE MASKS!
I love the feeling of a deep cleansing face mask. Lately, I’ve been heavily using the Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Mask and the Origins Clear improvement Charcoal Mask, both natural and incredibly purifying. Made without harsh chemicals, these masks are essential for any “Detox Day”. The feeling of your skin after a mask is SOOOOOOOOO refreshing, and you can’t go wrong with these beautiful, natural complexion clearers.
4.
YOGA
There is nothing like a solid yoga session to really connect with your inner core. The best aspect of yoga is you can gently aid in any problem you might be having. There is yoga for a sore back, yoga for digestion, yoga for flexibility… you name it. If you can’t make it to an actual class, there are a TON of videos online. One of my favorite series of videos can be found on the “Yoga with Adriene ” channel on Youtube (link here).
Check out her videos- she has sets for every level from beginner to advanced “yogi”.
5.
CONNECT WITH NATURE
During the busy work week, we tend to forget about our outside surroundings. The fresh air can do so much good- make time to take in the sun, feel the cool breeze and just relax. It’s amazing what a little nature can do for you!
6.
BATH TIME
A shower is nice but a bath… well, there’s just no comparison. Make time to sooth your skin- take a LUSH bath bomb and just melt away in the warmth of the water. Maybe light a few candles orput on some soothing tunes. The warm water will loosen your muscles and completely chill you out.

Beauty comes from within. A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body, so give yourself a day just to relax! Open up a book, listen to some soothing music, watch your favorite show, adventure outside, do some yoga, take a hot bath… you know, non- stressful activities.
Since I’m back at my University, I’ll be having a lot more of these “Detox Days”. Let me know what you do to unwind- comment down below or send me a message!
Thanks for stopping by,

Oooh that Kombucha mix with raspberry lemonade sounds delicious!
Oh it is! You must try it
What a great idea ^.^
Hmm Where do you find Kombucha? Have you ever made it yourself?
Thanks! Kombucha can be found in most stores in the organic section- and I haven’t personally tried to make it but my mom has! There are multiple recipes online!
Well done Jax!
