Hey there guys!,
September favorites are here! Sorry about the lack of postings as of late… During the summer, I kicked off several posts a week but now that I’m back for the fall semester, I’ve been busier than ever.
Back at school, in addition to my regular comm. classes, I’m apart of my University’s social media team, which has truly been a blast. I’ve definitely been keeping myself occupied…
Even through all this work, I of course made time to try out some new, fantastic products to share! These particular favorites are highly centered around skincare. Being stressed and not getting nearly enough sleep (like a typical college student), has taken a slight toll on my skin. Needless to say, I’m glad I found some quality skin rehab products!
So lets get on with it shall we?
1. Fresh Umbrian Clay® Mattifying Mask (~$50)
Using natural anti-inflammatory agents like Umbrian clay, this mattifying face mask actively aids in combination to oily skin. It is extremely gentle on the skin and sinks in deep, detoxifying pores. I love the fresh brand because it is formulated without Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs and Triclosan. (You don’t need to know exactly what these chemicals do to know that overuse of any of these agents are toxic for your skin)
Theres a definite cleansing feeling after rinsing off this mask as your skin lightly tightens. You also don’t need to wear this mask for too long- 15 minutes is good enough! Basically, it’s a low maintenance mask that does its job and does it well.
2. Dermalogica Clear Start Breakout Clearing Overnight Treatment (~$20)
So this is a relatively new product I’ve heard many positive reviews about so I wasn’t surprised that I liked it. All you do is apply a thin layer of this treatment on your face before bed and when you wake up, it is instantly apparent that your skin is deeply detoxified and any blemish is noticeably less irritated.
This product is also fairly priced, marketed at about $20. All in all, a very non-intrusive, workable product that I highly recommend.
3. Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner (~$20)
Toner water is a must- have in any skin care kit to sooth and minimize dirty pores. I love this Mario Badescu toner as it does not irritate my sometimes very sensitive skin plus! tightens my pores, creating a deeply cleansed completion.
The Glycolic Acid in this particular toner is found naturally in Papaya Extract, which helps accelerate skin cell turnover for younger-looking skin. Additionally, this toner is infused with Aloe Vera, a natural soother for your skin.
I love to use this toner after I cleansed my face, day and night. I do make my own toner waters on occasion, but I find on days I don’t have time to make it, this is a great alternative.
4. Murad Clarifying Cleanser (~$26)
A solid cleaner is absolutely necessary for overall skin health. I always like to try something new and this month I decided to give Murad a go!
This clarifying cleanser was actually developed by dermatologists and clinically proven to strip away irritants~ Murad cleanser has a slight tingle to it though it isn’t too harsh. Plus, it reduces 99.9 percent of irritating surface bacteria and inhibit blemish formation with the powerful antibacterial protection of silver citrate.
So far, I’ve really been enjoying this product. Let me know if you like any other Murad skin care, I’m interested in trying more from this brand!
5. Yves Saint Laurent Nail polish (~$26)
I’ve written a whole post on this magical product! I link it here: https://jvwbeauty.wordpress.com/2014/09/14/review-yves-saint-laurent-la-laque-couture-nail-lacquer/
Basically, YSL did it right with these gems. The only downside to the polish is that it can sometimes chip but, the overall shine, pigment and quality of the brush is so ridiculously good I don’t even care!
6. Dior Addict Lip Glow (~$33)
I’ve had this product in my kit for quite some time but I rediscovered it this month and have been using it obsessively. Dior Addict collection has been getting amazing reviews and I can see why~
This lip glow can enhance natural lip color as well as help keep any lipstick on for a longer period of time without fading. It’s super glossy and sheer while giving just the right amount of moisture to the lips.
I love to use this lip glow by itself as well as in cohesion with lipstick. This is one of those products, I’ll most definitely purchase again.
7. Eylure Naturalites Lengthening eyelashes (~$6)
For extra drama, I love to play with false lashes. These Eyelure eyelashes give a gorgeous, natural thickness to the lashes and are the perfect length- not too long, not too short.
The lashes are fluffy and flirty~ just like I just wrote, they are seriously the perfect length. Take a look!
8. Tarte LipSurgence™ Matte Lip Tint ($24)
On days you want a natural look yet still want a slight pop of color, these Tarte pencils are perfect. Packed with vitamins and natural ingredients, these lip tints gently moisturize your lips while giving you a matte flush.
Here is a little swatch of the six colors available:
Tarte describes this tinted pencils as: A hybrid between a stain, a gloss and a rich balm. LipSurgence™ lip tint delivers nondrying, sheer color while keeping lips hydrated and refreshed. Our award-winning tint is goofproof—it goes on like a lip gloss, stays on like a stain and hydrates like a dreamy balm.
It’s a great everyday product to use and I give it my 100 percent approval!
Well that wraps it up for this lovely month! Check back soon, I just got some glorious Chanel products that I will do tutorials/ reviews on so stay tuned!
As always, you can send me requests/ questions in the above tab on my home page.
Thanks for reading!,

Glad to read your review of the Murad cleanser. I’ve been using Murad’s Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 (reviewed it in my last post) and while I don’t love it, I have to say that when I DON’T use it, my skin breaks out more, so it must be controlling the acne. ALSO, tarte’s lip tints are AMAZING — I have moody, probably the darkest reddish-plummy color, and I was surprised by how much color there is as well as how lip-balm-like it is! Now if only I can get the cap to stay on while it’s in my bag….
