So I don’t normally post articles from other websites onto my blog but I recently came across this excellent summary from Cosmopolitan that perfectly lists the major Spring/ Summer makeup trends right off the runway.
I’ll post the link below, but first I just wanted to highlight some of my favorite, trending cosmetic looks from fashion week…
I found it interesting that SO MANY designers are going for the very minimal makeup look (i.e Alexander Wang,Versace, Marc Jacobs, Amanda Wakeley…) amongst many others.
When talking minimal makeup, there has to be a strong focus on skincare. A good moisturizer is many times the only cosmetic product added in these cases, so healthy skin must be apparent.
In vast contrast to such minimization, some designers have showcased strong, graphic liners and colors like Ellie Saab with this electric blue, heavy pencil:
Taking the liner to a more couture level, some designers have been pasting actual fabric to the lids to create an extreme liner effect like Dior that used thin slices of satin:
Here is the same sort of idea, created using vibrant, blue leather strands from the Fendi collection: (the fabric is glued on just like you would false lashes… pretty crazy)
By far the most curious new trend is ear makeup… yes EAR MAKEUP.
This is from the Anthony Vaccarello runway in which the models walked in very minimal makeup, tousled wet hair and heavy liner drawn on the ear lobes. Fascinating.
Notice those bold lips? I think bold lips will make some sort of appearance on the runway no matter what~
Designers like Zac Posen, though using minimal makeup everywhere else, featured a statement, berry lip that’s pretty classic.
Check out the full article for a more in-depth look at the future of makeup- 64 shows total are featured, so it’s a great, packed summary. The Cosmo article also briefly displays hair trends which is a nice added bonus!
So what are your favorite trends?.. would you ever consider ear makeup?!
I’d love to hear from you guys, send me a message in my inbox or write down below.
As always, thanks for reading!,
