A Fresh Face for Spring: The Classic “No Makeup- Makeup” Look

Greetings beautiful people!,

It’s Spring! Pretty soon, I’ll be turning on the air conditioning in my car instead of the heat, wearing floral kimonos (I know florals- for Spring- GROUNDBREAKING) and getting ready to start an event-filled Summer. With the change in weather comes a much needed transition into a more fresh-faced makeup routine- Time to ditch those heavy foundations and black- cherry lipsticks! The “no makeup-makeup” look is nothing new but I often get requests for how I personally do my own natural, simplistic “5 minute face.”

This no-makeup trend has blossomed quite extensively on the runways- I’m thinking specifically to Marc Jacobs (among many others) NYFW Spring/Summer collection, when his models walked the runway almost completely bare-faced. mj3 I find that people really appreciate a natural look- a smoky eye is great, don’t get me wrong, and I’d rock a metallic eye-liner any day, but sometimes, it’s nice to strip down- it makes me feel very zen in a way. To start off my look, I used my favorite foundation- the CHANEL Vintalumière Aqua Ultra- Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup ($47). I’ve written about this beauty gem before- it’s water-based and applies in an extremely light-weight consistency yet is fairly full-coverage. This foundation works like a “second-skin”- it makes your skin look flawless without looking like you caked-on thick, creamy clay onto your face. Since the formula is water-based, you can simply apply the product by using your fingers.

Next, I finished off the base of my face with a light powder and a duel-action concealer/ highlighter. For this, I choose my trusty TOO FACED Primed & Powerless powder ($30) and the YVES SAINT LAURENT Touche Éclat Radiant Touch Luminizing Pen ($41). I used a large, fluffy powder brush with a light hand over my face and then gently applied a few strokes of the YSL pen on the tops of my cheekbones as well as slightly under my eyes. s1306844-main-hero-300 To complete my face, I used a rosy blusher onto my cheeks. I decided to not contour today since I am going for an earthy, natural look- For this blush, I choose to use the TARTE Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush ($26). I believe I used the MARC JACOBS Highlighter Gel Eye Crayon in BLACK ($25). Then, I simply added a subtle coating of mascara onto my lids- for this, I used the MAYBELLINE Lash Sensational mascara ($9) s1501311-main-hero-300 Screen Shot 2015-04-01 at 12.12.46 AM

The last, final touch is a sheer lip-tint- I used the DIOR Addict Lip Glow ($33) to add natural color and plump to my lips. I love this product because it’s incredibly moisturizing, long lasting and the packaging is quite classy! s1162650-main-hero-300 IMG_5023 IMG_4970IMG_4972

Easy, quick and natural- you can never go wrong with this kind of look. (and yes, I did take a bunch of these selfies in the car. CAR SELFIES FOR THE WIN! AINT NO SHAME IN IT!!) hahahaha oh man.

Until next time,

~JAX
