Concealer Picks for Tired Eyes

Hello friends!,

Every time I walk into Sephora, seriously, EVERY TIME, I hear people ask about concealer to hide baggy, tired eyes. Lets face it, big, swollen under- eye bags can age a person 5 years+, or at the very least, make someone look absolutely exhausted. So let’s fix this problem, shall we? Here are some quality products I have personally used and strongly recommend to help you fake looking awake and lively, even when you’re on two hours of sleep and without a caffeine fix.

1. FOR DISCOLORED, TIRED EYES:  TARTE CC concealer ($24)

This color correcting (CC) concealer is fantastic for those pesky purple- tinted dark circles that look like you smeared a glob of gritty, grey eyeshadow under your eyes (and not in the sultry, smoky eye- look kind of way). I usually take this product and dab the formula under my eyes with my finger- a little goes a long way with this gem too. Plus, it is formulated without Parabens and Phthalates, so it’s safe and gentle on the skin.

2.  FOR WRINKLED, DISCOLORED, or BLEMISHED EYES: Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer ($34) & Nars Radient Creamy Concealer ($29)

For aged, discolored eyes, I love using the combination of the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage and NARS radiant creamy concealer. The Laura Mercier concealer is AMAZING at covering wrinkles, blemishes and dark spots. The formula is thick though, and tends to crease because it is so full coverage. To help aid this creasing, I like to use a little of the coveted NARS concealer which is light- weight and in cohesion with the L.M product, blends beautifully. Put these two together, and you are covered (literally).

3. FOR DULL, TIRED EYES: Saint Laurent TOUCHE ECLAT – Radiant Touch concealer ($42)

shoppingI’ve talked about this little guy several times before. Though pricy, you really get two products in one with this guy: a highlighter and concealer. Add extra brightness and life to your tired eyes with a dab of this beauty and you’re set. The packaging on this is GORGEOUS and comes with an easy-to-use applicator brush. The formula is light weight, blend-able and sets well while adding a dewy glow to any skin type or tone.

WANT A CHEAPER OPTION? Try the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer! ($7)

Though not as effective as the YSL concealer, this product is pretty similar in color. I’ve used this concealer for years, and continue to repurchase it- I also really appreciate the packaging as the puffy crank dispenser is incredibly easy to use.

SO YOU HAVE A NICE CONCEALER… NOW WHAT IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO APPLY IT?

A lot of people have the misconception that the old “half-moon” application of concealer is ideal but really the triangle shape shown above is 100% more effective. To apply, use your finger for heavier application or a beauty blender/ concealer flat brush for a lighter, overall application.

Hopefully this little concealer guide helps with some of those annoying eye bag issues! Let me know any of these work for you!

That’s all for now,
