AUGUST/ SEPTEMBER FAVORITES

Hello good friends,

I’ve been rather M.I.A from this little ol’ blog for the past couple weeks, mainly because I’ve been ridiculously busy at school. Nonetheless, I am back! So HEY, WHATS UP, HELLO! Happy fall too! (A.K.A my favorite time of year) Screw you!, muggy summer days! I hate being uncomfortably hot. Now, it’s time for leather jackets, scarfs, and pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING.

Anyways, the last few weeks I’ve been loading up on some new goods that I’ve absolutely been loving- so lets get out with it, shall we?

1. Burberry B.B. creme: $44

Burberry cosmetics is a relatively new edition to Sephora so OBVIOUSLY I have to try it out. I love B.B cremes in general- I like the light- weight texture and overall breathability compared to a full- on foundation. This Burberry gem is such good quality and sinks into the skin so easily. The formula is bendable and comes in three simple shades: fair, medium and dark. From what I can tell, these shades can match a broad spectrum of skin tones. Though not full coverage, this B.B creme will create a light “second skin” effect. If you need a little extra coverage for a few tricky areas, feel free to use a concealer over this product- that usually does the trick! (OH! and it’s formulated WITHOUT harmful chemicals like Parabens and Sulphates! WIN- WIN)

2. Herbivore Botanicals Mini Rose Hibiscus Face Mist: $18

Here is one of those products that I randomly grabbed while checking out at Urban Outfitters. It’s one of those things you really don’t think you need until you try it, because now I’m hooked. This is an “Ahhh-inducing” organic coconut water face mist with fresh Rose Hibiscus. Not only does this product instantly hydrate and refresh the face, but it smells like heaven. This is an all- natural product with ingredients like Witch Hazel, great for toning the skin. Other ingredients include Cocos Nucifera (coconut) water, Aloe, Barbadensis Leaf water (aloe water), hibiscus flower, Bulgarian rose distillate and Lactobacillus ferment. Can we also talk about the packaging? So cute.

3. Deborah Lippmann – Painted Desert Nail Polish Collection $18

I’ve heard about Deborah Lippmann polishes before, but this is the first time I’ve actually tried them out. No surprise here, they’re awesome. I purchased this lovely dusty rose color called “Earth Angel,” part of the Desert nail polish collection, a limited edition. The formula glides on wonderfully and the color pigment is absolutely gorgeous. Plus, the staying power lasts a fairly long time! I’m thinking that I will definitely purchase this brand again.

4. Kat Con D: Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette ($46)

I really should devote a whole blog post to this gem, because it’s THAT GOOD. I remember when Kat Von D was on Miami Ink on TLC a long time ago and I always thought she was the coolest chick. Now that she’s a badass lady entrepreneur, I like her even more. Her cosmetics line is KILLING IT lately, and this palette is no exception. The “Shade + Light”  is really three mini palettes in one as it includes three large base shadows that are arranged above three coordinating powders for “contouring, defining, and highlighting.” The shadows are bendable, nicely pigmented and the looks you can create with this product are really limitless (hence why I just might write a whole separate post on this guy).

Here is a photo of one of the looks I created with this gem the other day- the one eye picture is kind of creepy, eh? But hey, at least you can get some kind of idea.

Colors used: Laetus (base), Samuel (crease), Ludwin & Succubus (crease), Sytry (corner crease)

5. Elizabeth & James: Limited Edition Nirvana (White) Lotion ($15)

UGH! I’m so mad this is only LIMITED EDITION, because I freaking LOVE IT. Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, who founded this brand, sure have come far from their glitter-filled, early- 2000s Walmart cosmetic line. I’ve loved this Nirvana White scent from the beginning and I’ve purchased the perfume many times. Now! IT COMES IN A LOTION! I love the rustic Peony scent- it’s the perfect balance of hard and sweet. The lotion spreads on well, sinks into the skin lusciously and holds it’s scent for quite a while. Basically, there’s nothing bad to say here.

Well that does it for this round of favorites! Stay tuned for many more posts to come!
