Hello lovely people,
I’m a serious nail polish addict- From Essie to Dior, I’ve pretty much tried it all. I’m also a perfectionist when it comes to my nails, so I can appreciate a good, clean color. Below, I’ve written quick little bit about some of my favorite nail brands and shades I’m feeling at the moment… enjoy!
1.BUTTER LONDON ($15)
Shade: Lady Much
Butter London is a giant in the nail lacquer industry- I find these polishes are extremely easy to apply with a silky, lush formula. This shade, “Lady Lush,” is a cool- toned, muted baby-blue with an added glossy shine. I particularly love how this color is in-between a natural and a bright blue. Though this is traditionally a more “springy” pigment, this color can easily transition through Fall and Winter.
2. Yves Saint Laurent ($27)
Shade: 18 Bleu Majorelle, 36 Ver Dorient
Saint Laurent creates some of the most pigmented, vibrant colors I have ever seen in a nail lacquer. They’re rather long lasting, extremely shiny and the packaging is gorgeous. The only downside to these polishes is the price… $27 a bottle? Yikes, but it’s a good splurge if you’re up for it. I love these two colors in particular- the electric blue and forest green color is absolutely striking- I get an outrageous amount of compliments on both.
3. Chanel ($27)
Shade: Blue Boy
Can you tell I’m on a cool tone kick? Chanel, believe it or not, does not have my favorite formula, but the colors are so incredible that it makes up for it. The formula isn’t bad at all, don’t get me wrong, but seeing how it is the same price as Saint Laurent, it could be a tad better. I find the pigment does not last as long, but man, the color is amazing and glossy.
4. O.P.I Infinite Shine Collection ($12.50)
Shade: It Never Ends
O.P.I came out with an “Infinite Shine” collection and I’m IN LOVE with the formula. The brand name says it all, these polishes have infinite shine. I find the color lasts an average amount of time but the shine (and the price) makes up for it. I love this muted shade as it’s a cool beige with a slight purple tint- it’s a soft, neutral tone that works with any season.
5. Deborah Lippmann ($18)
Shade: Dessert Rose
Deborah Lippmann creates some of my favorite tones, including this mauve shade. This formula seems to dry fairly quickly and the pigment lasts a pretty long time! Plus, nail colors are infused with treatment benefits, including biotin and green tea extract (a great added bonus).
6. Dior ($27)
Shade: Junon
Dior is fantastic all around- strong shine, high pigmentation, diverse color selection… The polishes do cost $27, so on the pricier side, but like I said before with YSL, it’s a good splurge. This shade, “Junon,” is a beautiful cool gray color that holds a blue tint in different lighting.
7. Essie ($8.50)
Shade: Meet Me at Sunset
I originally purchased this coral shade when I had my “Mad Men” phase, where I binge- watched the show on Netflix and saw that every women from the 60s would rock similar colors. Essie is a major brand used by many, it could be the most popularly used brand out of them all- Essie is reasonable priced, nicely pigmented, and all around, a fair product. The color may not last forever, but for the price, it’s worth it!
8. Estée Lauder ($21)
Shade: Love Bites
I was pleasantly surprised with this lacquer- it’s cheaper than other high-end brands and seems to be just as good as Saint Laurent! The formula glides on smooth, the pigment is strong with high- shine and lasts a fair amount of time. Plus, the polish dries rather quickly! You honestly can not go wrong with this brand.
Well, that wraps it up! I constantly try out new brands, so if any other brands stick out to me in the next couple weeks, I’ll be sure to do a write up on it!
Thanks for reading, loves!
xx,
