Happy New Year, pretty people! Since it is officially 2016, I thought I would continue my 2015 cosmetic review. My latest post was all about 2015 skincare- didn’t get a chance to check it out? Click here!

A good foundation changes the way you look at your skin. The proper foundation should act as a second skin rather than a caked- on mask padded into your pores. Below, I have chosen my ultimate top 5 foundations I have used this past year. Sure, there are many other honorable products out there, but for me, I found I gravitated towards these gems the most.

1.) Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($62)

This product is pure luxury in a bottle. The name says it all- this foundation glides on like pure, luminescent silk. Armani formulated this product with a type of micro-fil technology that produces a low-density foundation that pairs high-impact pigments with weightless texture. There is a fairly good range of pigments available too and I typically find the Luminous Silk foundation works for both day and night.

2.) CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE AQUA: Ultra-light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 ($47)

I have written about the wonders of this particular product several times before- it is my ultimate favorite! I have a combination skin type and find this foundation is ideal for those who do not want layers of product caked onto the face. The formula is incredibly light- weight and feels so natural once applied. This is a water- based product, so all you need is the warmth of your hands to apply. Plus, a little goes a long way with this foundation so it lasts quite a long time.

3.) BAREMINERALS Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($29)

This little guy is a BB, CC, and a tinted moisturizer in one! The formula is light-weight but surprisingly full- coverage. The cream has a bit of a frothy texture that sinks in effortlessly onto the skin. Bare Minerals is, you guessed it, mineral based which is natural and safe on the skin. The Complexion Rescue formula is additionally hydrating and is very build- able, meaning you can make it as light or as full- coverage as you want.

4.) Charlotte Tilbury: LIGHT WONDER Foundation ($45)

Makeup guru goddess, Charlotte Tilbury, has manifested one of the most successful brands represented in the cosmetic industry. Her signature Light Wonder foundation is youth boosting and aids in minimizing pores. Additionally, it has a silky, light formula and is ideal for every skin tone/ type.

5.) COVER FX Custom Cover Drops ($44)

An ALLURE “Best in Beauty” winner, Cover FX are little droplets that pack a ton of coverage power. They come in 24 other shades to personalize to your skin tone and like I said before, a little goes a LONG way. Just like all the other foundations listed, this product is build- able, so if you are having a rough skin day, you can apply more as needed.
