Signature Scents: Perfume Picks

I have always wanted a “signature scent”- I remember specifically my grandma wearing a very particular Estée Lauder perfume in the 90s, and to this day, whenever I even get the slightest whiff of the stuff, I think of her.

People are usually pretty particular about perfume, including myself. Some scents are simply way too mature for me (I’m looking specifically at you, Chanel No.5) while others bring me back to anxiety- ridden middle school with those over-the-top fruity sprays or Abercrombie- esque fragrance. Though I am picky, I found several scents I have been obsessed with as of late. Below are five picks of smelly wonders for everyone, from more mature scents (that won’t bring you back to your grandma’s attic) to subtle floral, feminine scents.

1.) STELLA by Stella McCartney ($50)

STELLA is my most recent addition to my favorite, beloved scents. This perfume is the first scent produced by fashion maven Stella McCartney. The scent blossoms with fresh hints of English rose, mandarin and peony, making the most magical combination. I find this gem is versatile and is not too “in your face.” STELLA is subtle and therefore can be worn anytime from  work to a classy night out.

2.) Brown Sugar by fresh ($50)

This little bottle is raved by an outrageous amount of fellow beauty addicts~ With notes of Sicilian lemon, tangerine, and açaí berry mixed in with a sheer caramel sugared magnolia base, fresh has created one of the most invigoratingly- tasty scents. Whenever I wear this guy, I get so many compliments, it is truly a universally liked fragrance.

3.) Ange ou Demon Le Secret by Givenchy ($85)

I can not give this Givenchy gem enough praise- it is simply perfection in a bottle. If you typically go for a more feminine fragerance, you’ll absolutely cherish Ange ou Demon with its fruity floral “jasmine tea” theme. This is probably one of my most worn scents ever, I ADORE it.

4.) Oceane Eau de Toilette by Otremer, Paris  ($20)

Oceane is a dreamy, salty scent that takes me straight to the Ocean (as the name suggests). This perfume comes on strong but lays subtle on the skin. It is clean and airy, smelling like pure salt water and grapefruit. Plus, it is fairly affordable, another added bonus!

5.) NIRVANA White by Elizabeth & James ($80)

With notes of Peony, Muguet and Tender Musk, NIRVANA White is the model of sophistication without being too mature. I have loved this scent for several years now and have repurchased it many times. It is the ideal scent for the girl who wants a feminine, rich scent without going too extreme.
